New Window Generation – Larger, More Elegant and Safer
Modern architecture is a driver of new technology for REHAU, the leading provider of polymer-based solutions for window and curtain wall systems. As a trendsetter in the construction field, we offer a new type of gluing technology that makes possible ultra-modern glass architectures which provide more light and a comfortable feeling within the building because of the larger window areas. Due to the special gluing technology, in which the glass and frame are tightly connected to each other, the previous size and form limits are significantly expanded and improved. Our know-how in gluing technology stems from the automotive and aerospace industries. The front and rear panes have been glued together for many years in these industries, for safety reasons. After a two-year research project in the REHAU Competence Center of Technology, we are now able to apply this proven gluing technology to window construction. Very narrow casement windows are becoming a reality. Special shapes such as arched windows are now functional and sturdy for a long period of time. The especially strong, high-tensile connection and reduced weight make it possible to construct much larger casement. For the first time in the history of window construction, there is now nothing standing in the way of constructing one-story-high glass fronts on balconies or terraces. It is now possible to increase window pane area by up to 50 percent. This means more light, more sun, and more quality of life. Vinyl windows are normally stabilized with reinforcement. Since the glass itself increases stability significantly due to the gluing technology, the window no longer needs to be reinforced. The steel can be omitted, reducing the width of the window frame and significantly increasing the window insulation. The result is a visually narrow, very pleasing view.
