Comfort Hydraulics for Convertible Top Systems
The temperatures are rising, and the days are getting longer again. Nothing pleases convertible aficionados more than to finally put the top down and enjoy the feeling of unlimited freedom. Comfort hydraulic systems from REHAU provide trouble-free pleasure in “top down” driving. In order for the sophisticated folding movements of the roof to function smoothly, the small-sized, approximately 4.5 millimeter thick hoses are made of extremely flexible materials. Due to the material properties, they are more pliable and therefore not subject to buckling. The long-lasting hydraulic hoses are designed for temperatures from minus 40 to plus 80 degrees Celsius and hold up even in the event of high heat under the roof from a traffic jam. Despite their miniature dimensions, they can accomplish great things. The intricately designed hardtops of new convertible generations are folded down or extended using a great deal of pressure. These requirements can only be achieved using miniature hydraulics, with thin, efficient hydraulic hoses which function at a working pressure of up to 200 bar. That is well over 20 times the pressure of a normal household water pipe.
