Who We Are
REHAU is the leading international systems manufacturer in the construction, automotive, and industrial sector. Since REHAU's inception in 1948, the company has grown continuously on the basis of our own strength. Starting as a three-man production operation, REHAU has evolved to become an independent corporate group, active throughout the world.
- 1948 Company founded with 3 employees in Rehau/Bavaria
- 1951 Manufacturing of arm straps and sideboards begins for the VW Beetle
- 1954 REHAU participates in Germany's first heart operation using silicone tubing
- 1959 REHAU Plastics Inc. founded in North America
- 1967 First employee performance assessment with results linked to a variable salary scale
- 1969 North American headquaters is established in Montreal
- 1975 Profession of plastics technician is created
- 1976 Plants open in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Feuchtwangen, Gemany. US sales office opens in Chicago
- 1978 REHAU produces the first polymer bumper for the VW Passat.
- 1979 In the U.S. North American headquaters moves to Leesburg, Virginia. Sales office opens in Greensboro, North Carolina
- 1983 The number of employees surpasses the 5,000 mark
- 1986 First underfloor heating system is installed using PEX pipe pioneered by REHAU in 1968
- 1993 ew plant opens near Mexico City. New sales offices: Posen, Poland; Celaya, Mexico; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Asia/Australia's First R&D division is established in Bangkog
- 2000 Company founder, Helmut Wagner, transfers management of the corporate group to his sons. Jobst Wagner is named president of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Veit Wagner is named vice-president.
- REHAU today: More than 15,000 employees worldwide, with approx. 1,400 in North America
- North America: 15 sales offices, 7 plants, 1 administrative office
- Worldwide: 129 sales offices, 41 plants, 16 administrative offices
